Mexico plays a prestigious friendly against the number one ranked team in the world, Brazil. The tricolores defeated the samba kings 2:0 in their previous match up, during the first round of the Copa America this past July. Indeed, Mexico holds a very favorable head-to-head record against Brazil having won four of the last five games the two teams have played. With over 57,000 tickets sold already (and a capacity of 68,000 at Foxboro's Gillette Stadium, where the game will be played) there can be little doubt this is an eagerly awaited encounter.
In an all-CONCACAF tie, Canada will face Costa Rica in Toronto. While the national team has played in the city before this will be the first full international game held at the new BMO Field - home of Toronto FC. The game will be a rematch of the opening match of the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup™ . On that day, the maple leafs ran out 2:1 winners, having gone one goal down, with a brace from Julian De Guzman.
Panama travels to the Estadio Jose Antonio Anzoategui to take on Venezuela. Playing in one of the host stadia of the Copa America, the canaleros will be hoping for better luck with the weather having seen their match-up with Mexico washed out at halftime due to torrential rain over the weekend. Panama lost to the eventual winners, USA, at the quarter final stage of the CONCACAF Gold Cup™ this summer in a close game. They also recently defeated CONCACAF rivals, Guatemala, recovering from a one goal deficit to win the friendly game 2:1 last month.
Honduras has a home encounter with CONMEBOL opponents Ecuador. After a 2:0 reverse in their previous game in El Salvador, the catrachos will be looking for a positive result at the Estadio Olimpico in front of their home fans.
