Goals by Norman Forde, Dwayne Lynch and Jonathan Straker led Barbados to a 3:2 win over visiting Antigua & Barbuda at the Carlton Club Ground in Black Rock. Barbados, who are unbeaten in their last two home matches, will host St. Vincent & The Vincent in Black Rock next weekend.
Meanwhile, Gregory Richardson scored the only goal of the game as the host, Guyana topped St. Vincent & The Grenadines at the Blairmont Community Centre Ground in Berbice. Guyana have only lost once in their last 18 games against St. Vincent & The Grenadines (2:0) on 14 January 2007.
Elsewhere, Costa Rica were beaten 1:0 at home by Sweden at San José's Estadio Ricardo Saprissa with Samuel Holmen notching the game-winner for Sweden. Costa Rica's winless streak now stands at eight games.
The encounter also bid farewell to forward Paulo Cesar Wanchope who played his final match with the Ticos. Wanchope, who competed in two FIFA World Cups (Korea/Japan 2002, Germany 2006), concluded his career with the national team after scoring 45 goals in 73 appearances.
Several other CONCACAF teams begin their preparations this week for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers as Bermuda host a pair of games against Puerto Rico at the National Sports Centre in Hamilton on 16 and 18 January, respectively, while Sweden visits the USA at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California on 19 January.
