One of CONCACAF's regional bodies, the Union Centromericana de Fútbol (UNCAF) held their Extraordinary Congress at the Hotel Real Intercontinental in Guatemala City, Guatemala on Wednesday.

Under the chairmanship of UNCAF President Rafael Tinoco, the Congress had the delegates from six of the seven Central American members attending the annual event, with Nicaragua as the absentee representative.

Among announcements from the UNCAF Extraordinary Congress were that the 2009 UNCAF Nations Cup, which is the Central American qualifier to the CONCACAF Gold Cup™, will be held in Panama from 22 January - 1 February; Costa Rica will host the 2009 UNCAF U-16 Tournament.

Also during the Congress there were several courses and symposiums unveiled for Central American Referees this year:
� Referee Assistant Symposium from 6-10 May in Honduras
� Central American International Referees Convention from 11-12 June in Costa Rica
� Development Course for Referee´s Fitness will take place from 21-26 June
� Seminar for Youth Referees and Assistant Referees from 24-29 November in Honduras
