The USA kick off a stretch of three matches in twelve days with a mouthwatering international friendly against England on Wednesday evening. The Stars & Stripes will then travel to face Spain before finishing up with a home game against Argentina at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

In just the eighth competitive international at the newly rebuilt Wembley Stadium Bob Bradley's side will be looking to build on their recent successful results against European opposition. The USA defeated Sweden 2:0 in January and followed that up by defeating Poland 3:0 in Krakow in March - two solid results against teams who have qualified for this summer's 2008 UEFA European Championship. Sandwiched in between the two European games was a hard-fought 2:2 tie with perennial CONCACAF opponents Mexico.

Bradley's squad contains a number of European based players including eight who ply their trade in England not to mention DaMarcus Beasley who recently scored a goal in the Scottish FA Cup Final for his club side Glasgow Rangers. And the manager is clearly looking forward to the occasion: "We're excited about the challenge of playing England in Wembley Stadium we expect that this is going to be a fantastic experience."

Another player who will be eyeing this fixture with great anticipation is Landon Donovan. The California native, if selected, will earn his 100th international cap - a prestigious honor in the world of football. In doing so, at the tender age of 26 years, two months Donovan will become just the fourth youngest player ever to reach the milestone. The three players to have reached the 100-cap plateau sooner are Korea Republic's Cha Bum Kun (24) and Saudi Arabians Sami Al-Jaber (25) and Mohammed Al-Deayea (25).

Before the game Donovan's Los Angeles Galaxy team-mate, David Beckham will also be recognized for reaching a century of games for his country. Beckham, who became just the fifth English player to reach the mark in the Three Lions defeat to France at the Stade de France in Paris, will receive a commemorative cap from fellow 100-cap winner Bobby Charlton.

Fabio Capello's England narrowly failed to qualify for the 2008 European Championship and, with an eye on the future, a number of younger names have been included in the 23-man squad for the game against the Stars & Stripes. In charge of the England team for just two games (a home win against Switzerland and an away defeat to France), Capello will be looking to stamp his authority on the England team and the USA can expect a tough challenge as they kick off the first of three top clashes in twelve days.
