In front of a packed house at the Hasely Crawford Stadium that was full some two hours before kick-off, the Soca Warriors lost 3:0 to England who after defeating the USA on Wednesday were playing their second CONCACAF opponent in four days.

The match, officially a celebration of the one hundredth anniversary of the Trinidad & Tobago Football Federation had been marketed under the tagline "A score to settle" - which was a reference to the last and only previous occasion the two teams met at the 2006 FIFA World Cup. On that day the Three Lions ran out 2:0 winners but both goals came in the last seven minutes of the game.

England scored two quick goals through Gareth Barry (12 mins) and Jermaine Defoe (16 mins) and went into the interval with the score at 2:0.  Defoe, who plays his club football for the 2008 FA Cup Winners Portsmouth, scored his second and England's third just four minutes into the second half.

Dwight Yorke made an appearance in the final 15 minutes of the game, marking a return to the national team for a man who was an instrumental part of the 2006 FIFA World Cup campaign but he was unable to get off the mark and the game finished 3:0 to the Three Lions.

As captain David Beckham remarked after: "It was a comfortable performance in the end, but I think we made it like that because we started well in the first 20 minutes .we play against teams from all around the world and they all want to beat England. It was important to put in a performance, and that's what we did."

Elsewhere, Panama defeated Guatemala by a single strike from Jose Luis Garces. The goal came in the 67th minute. Both teams will be in World Cup Qualifying action later this month with Panama taking on El Salvador and Guatemala playing St Lucia.
