HEREDIA, Costa Rica -- Taking advantage of a break in the calendar while the Costa Rican national team participates in the UNCAF Copa Centroamericana, Herediano hosted and defeated the Costa Rican under-20 team, 3-1, in a friendly on Friday at the Estadio Eladio Rosabal Cordero.
The game gave recently-appointed head coach Mauricio Solis an opportunity to see his squad in game action and focus on the implementation of new tactics.
Herediano, which used a different team in each half, netted all of its goals in the first 45 minutes. Ismael Gomez opened the scoring, followed by Anllel Porras and Olman Vargas.
Three members of the Florenses played for Costa Rica's U20s -- Fabian Garita, Dennis Gonzalez and Mauricio Nunez.
Herediano is scheduled to face the LA Galaxy in the quarterfinals of the 2012/13 CONCACAF Champions League on March 7 and 13.
