NEW YORK - The 1,000th goal in CONCACAF Champions League (CCL) history was scored Thursday, when LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham netted directly off a corner kick in first-half injury time against Isidro Metapan at The Home Depot in Carson, California.

CONCACAF President, Jeffrey Webb, was delighted for the former Manchester United player: "CONCACAF continues to hit world-renowned and historic milestones with last night's 1,000th goal in Champions League play, and the recent two gold medals and a bronze at the Olympics. It's impossible to deny the skill and level of play emerging from our region and we congratulate David Beckham and his Galaxy team on this momentous occasion."

Another CCL milestone goal -- # 500 - was also scored by an LA Galaxy player.Defender Sean Franklin did it at the Puerto Rico Islanders in the 83rd minute of the MLS side's 2-1 Preliminary Round win on August 4, 2010.
