PANAMA CITY - Yosimar Arias capitalized on a fortunate bounce to score with three minutes remaining and give Municipal a 2-1 victory over Chorrillo Thursday night in the CONCACAF Champions League.

Arias' goal came after Municipal's Luis Rodriguez and Chorrillo's Jhonny Ruiz traded goals five minutes apart midway through the second half.

The win was the fourth straight for Municipal and extended its unbeaten string to seven while ended Chorrillo's winning streak at three.

Arias was the beneficiary when Leandro Barrios' shot from the top left corner of the penalty area was deflected by Chorrillo defender Rolando Rojas. The ball caromed to Arias' feet, who put a rolling right-footed shot off the inside of the left post past goalkeeper Carlos Valdes.

Municipal appeared to have fate on its side with Chorrillo twice denied goals for offside and goalkeeper Jaime Penedo denying Alberto Quintero in the 46th minute and Alcibiades Rojas in the 56th.

Both had clear looks from the top of the penalty area - but were thwarted by a diving punch.

The match was a homecoming of sorts for Penedo -- clad in black shirt and pink shorts and socks, who is a Panamanian international who has played for Municipal since 2007.

Municipal then went ahead in the 70th when Luis Rodriguez found himself unmarked to convert with a header off a corner kick.

Chorrillo rallied five minutes later, capitalizing on its own fortunate deflection.

Jairo Jimenez sprinted along the right and sent in a cross to the near post that bounced off the feet of Municipal defender Jaime Vides and fell at the feet of Jhonny Ruiz.

Ruiz took a quick touch and pounced on the bounding ball to equalize into the roof of the net.

Municipal climbed into a virtual tie for first place in Group 7 with Monterrey with three points after one match, while Chorrillo lost for the second time in as many games.

The win was only the third in nine matches away from home in the Champions League for Municipal, which had been outscored 10-1 in its last two away games.
