GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands - Jonathan Fana scored three goals and Hector Ramos scored two more to pace the defending champion Puerto Rico Islanders to a 8-0 victory over George Town SC Friday night and send it to the final round of Caribbean Club Champions Cup.
The result finished the Islanders atop second round Group 4 and advanced it to the final four-team round of the competition with Caledonia AIA of Trinidad.
Puerto Rico and Caledonia drew 0-0 in their head-to-head matchup on Monday in a torrential downpour, but the Islanders won the group based on goal difference. Caledonia beat George Town 5-0 on Wednesday.
The victory extended Puerto Rico's unbeaten streak to five with only one loss in its last 10 matches.
Puerto Rico and Caledonia will face Group 5 qualifiers Antigua Barracuda FC and W Connection of Trinidad in the finals, from which three teams will qualify for the CONCACAF Champions League.
The three Caribbean berths are the last remaining spots still undecided in the 24-team field for Champions League, which will begin July 31.
