GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands - Baltimore SC of Haiti has withdrawn from the Caribbean Club Champions Cup, reducing the semifinal round qualifying Group Four to three teams.
The move -- the result of being unable to obtain visas to enter the Cayman Islands -- leaves host amateur club George Town SC, Caledonia AIA of Trinidad & Tobago and the defending champion Puerto Rico Islanders to contest for two places in the tournament finals.
The group opened Monday night with a 0-0 draw between Caledonia and the Islanders, a match played in a downpour. More than eight inches (20 centimeters) of rain reportedly fell on Grand Cayman on Monday, forcing the closing of all public primary and secondary schools Tuesday.
Caledonia will face George Town on Wednesday, with the host club playing Puerto Rico on Friday.
The top two teams will advance to face Group 5 qualifiers Antigua Barracuda FC and W Connection of Trinidad in the finals, from which the three best professional teams will qualify for the CONCACAF Champions League.
