NEW YORK - Mexican referees Francisco Chacon and Roberto Garcia will officiate the two legs of the all-Mexican CONCACAF Champions League finals between defending champion Monterrey and Santos Laguna, the confederation announced Tuesday.
The 35-year-old Chacon, who is in his second season of the Champions League and who also refereed in last year's Gold Cup and Copa America - including the semifinal between Paraguay and Venezuela, will be in charge of the first leg on Wednesday in Monterrey.
Garcia, 37, who is in his fourth season of the Champions League, also has officiated in the Gold Cup. He will referee the second leg in Torreon on April 25.
The finals will be the fifth match in this season's Champions League for Garcia and third for Chacon. Both are Mexican league veterans who last refereed in the quarterfinals and have experience in the South American club championship, the Copa Libertadores.
