TORREON, Mexico - Santos Laguna striker Carlos Darwin Quintero has suffered a torn thigh muscle in his left leg and could miss at least the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal against Seattle, the Mexican club said.

The 24-year-old Colombian, who scored four goals in the Preliminary Round and Group Stage of the Champions League, was injured in Sunday's 2-1 loss at Chivas de Guadalajara on Sunday, the club announced in a short statement Tuesday on its website.

Although he played the full 90 minutes against Chivas, a subsequent MRI exam revealed the injury, which the club said would make him unavailable for "two to three weeks."

That would rule him out of the first leg of the quarterfinals in Seattle on March 7 and possibly the second leg in Torreon on March 14.

Besides being the team scoring co-leader in Champions League, Quintero has seven goals in the Mexican league since the start of the Apertura season in July, one so far in the Clausura.

After winning four straight, Santos has gone winless in its last three matches and fallen to sixth place in the Mexican Clausura with 14 points, three behind league-leading Morelia.
