GLASGOW, Scotland - Spanish midfielder Marc Crosas has transferred to CONCACAF Champions League title contender Santos Laguna, his former club Celtic said on its website Friday.

The 24-year-old Crosas, who played last year at Volga in Russia on loan from Celtic, joins the Mexican side one week after the start of the Apertua season and two months before "Los Guerreros" face the Seattle Sounders in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

A graduate of the Spanish U-17, U-19 and U-21 national team programs, Crosas also has played for Lyon and Barcelona, where he appeared in the Copa del Rey and European Champions League in 2007.

Crosas becomes will occupy the fifth and final non-Mexican roster spot on Santos, with Argentine native Daniel Ludena having obtained his Mexican citizenship.
