METAPAN, El Salvador - Paolo Suarez scored in the first half and Chisthian Bautista added a second-half strike to give Isidro Metapan a 2-0 victory over Mexico's Santos Laguna on Wednesday and move into a share of second place in Group B of the CONCACAF Champions League.

Suarez, the older brother of Luis Suarez - who helped Liverpool beat Exeter in the English league cup earlier in the day, put Metapan ahead in the 45th minute, and Bautista added his second of the season in the 52nd.

The victory extended Metapan's unbeaten streak to five matches at home with only one loss in its last 13. But it was only the club's third win in 14 games in the Champions League.

The result came against a second-choice lineup for Santos, which used eight players who have yet to take the field in a Mexican league match this season. Of those, five played in the 3-2 victory over Real Espana a week ago.

Metapan had the better of play from the start, starting with a free kick into the area by Lester Blanco in the third minute that was deflected and had to be cleared in a scramble by the Santos back line.

Santos' possession and chances were largely sporadic, getting a shot high from Alonso Escoboza in the 22nd, and Osmar Mares similarly in the 45th.

Suarez put Metapan ahead 15 seconds before halftime, settling a headed ball at the top of Santos' defensive third, taking a touch to just outside the arc and unleashing a skipping, right-footed effort that bounced twice before slipping under the outstretched right arm of Santos keeper Miguel Bacerra.

Metapan doubled the advantage when Andres Flores served a diagonal ball to a streaking Bautista down the left side of the area. Bautista took one touch and sent it though the legs of Bacerra from just outside the six.

Santos struggled to create the rest of the match, although did manage a header off the bar in teh 58th minute.

For Santos, which reached the quarterfinals in the inaugural Champions League in 2009 and the semifinals last season, the result it was a fourth straight loss away in the tournament and extended its winless streak to five, since a 5-2 win over Trinidad's Joe Public in last season's Group Stage. It has lost eight of 12 games away in the Champions League.
