Puerto Rico will be joined by Tempete FC of Haiti, which outlasted Defence Force of Trinidad 4-2 on penalty kicks after a 0-0 draw in the first match of Wednesday's semifinals doubleheader in the CFU Club Champions Cup.

Alpha and Defence Force will play in the third-place match on Friday in Georgetown for the last of the Caribbean's three berths in the Champions League. Puerto Rico will then play Tempete for the title.

The Islanders have played in the semifinals each of the past four years in the Caribbean club championship and will be seeking a second straight title.

Matthew Bouraee gave Puerto Rico the lead in the 23rd minute but Dwain Jacobs equalize for the Guyanese side 14 minutes later.

Fana put Puerto Rico ahead in the 108th minute and Foley added the insurance eight minutes later to leave it one of only three teams to have qualified every year since the Champions League began in 2008.

In the early match, Junior Charles, Paul Valdano, Joachin Gregory and Cadet Changler all converted their penalty attempts, while Rawle Fletcher and Anton Joseph missed the last two for Defence Force to give Tempete the victory.

Wednesday's results leave only two berths open in the 24-team Champions League field. Besides the third berth from the Caribbean, Canada's sport is undecided. The second leg of the Nutrilite Canadian Championship between Toronto and Vancouver was abandoned Wednesday night in Toronto due to heavy rain and lightning.

It has been rescheduled for a replay on July 2.
