TUCSON, Arizona - Canada lost to Denmark 4-0 in a friendly played on Saturday at Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium. Andreas Cornelius scored three goals and Kasper Lorentzen added another to power the European side to victory.

The Canadians gave debut caps to six players, but interim head coach Colin Miller made no excuses and stated he was 'disappointed' with the final result.

"We are absolutely disappointed with the score line, but it was an incredible learning experience for everyone on our team," said Miller, who was appointed to the position on January 7. "We're disappointed in the manner of the goals we gave away; but there are aspects of our play we are pleased with.

"We improved in the second half, but you can't give players of (Denmark's) quality as much time as we did in the first half."

It was Canada, though, who had the first real chance of the game, when Ashtone Morgan burst down the left wing and delivered a cross into the box. Neither Tosaint Ricketts nor the on-rushing Nik Ledgerwood were able to connect, and a follow-up opportunity for Dwayne De Rosario was blocked.

Denmark wasted little time punishing Canada for its miss.

Cornelius, 19, buried a free header to the bottom right corner in the 8th minute to give the Danes the 1-0 lead.

Three minutes later, Lorentzen sliced through the Canadian defense and coolly finished to double Denmark's lead.

Denmark's third goal came from a corner in the 35th minute, as an initial attempt crashed off the crossbar before being tucked away from close range by Cornelius.

Canada's defensive shape improved in the second half and chances for either team became sparse.

Denmark goalkeeper Steffen Rasmussen did well save a 22-yard effort from Russell Teibert after the 20-year-old combined neatly with Tosaint Rickets.

In the 66th minute, the Danes closed their goal account as Cornelius completed his hat-trick.

Kyle Bekker, Simon Thomas, Evan James, Kyler Porter, Philippe Davies and Mason Trafford all made their first senior appearances on the day for Canada, which is preparing for the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup and will meet the United States on Tuesday in Houston.

Denmark will face Mexico on Wednesday in Glendale, Arizona.
