PANAMA CITY, Panama – In its first signing ahead of the 2014 Panamanian Apertura and 2014-15 CONCACAF Champions League (CCL), Tauro FC announced Saturday the acquisition of Jair Renteria.

The emerging 24-year-old played last season for Tierra Firme FC in the Liga Nacional de Ascenso -- Panama’s second division – and is expected to provide depth at forward for a side that scored 16 goals in 18 games during the recently completed Clausura.

He is the brother of the late Luis Renteria – a Tauro and Panama standout -- who passed in March at the age of 25 from respiratory failure following a battle with systemic Lupus.

Tauro qualified for its fifth CCL after winning the 2013 Panamanian Apertura.
