KANSAS CITY, Kansas — Michael Orozco was added to the United States roster Tuesday for the Americans’ last pair of World Cup Qualifying encounters, after defender Omar Gonzalez was forced to withdraw from the squad due to an injury.

The LA Galaxy star left at halftime of a Major League Soccer encounter against Chivas USA on Sunday and was subsequently diagnosed with a left-hip strain.

Orozco, a defender with Puebla in Mexico, has made five appearances for the U.S. this year, including four during its run to a fifth CONCACAF Gold Cup title.  The 27-year-old has played in only one qualifier during this cycle, a 3-1 loss at Costa Rica last month.

The U.S., which has already secured a place at Brazil 2014, closes out the CONCACAF Hexagonal with a home match against Jamaica on October 11, before finishing at Panama four days later.
