FAS look to maintain its perfect record in El Salvador, while Guatemala’s table-topping Universidad de San Carlos travels to Mictlan.  CONCACAF.com previews all of the weekend action across the Central American region.

    EL SALVADOR

FAS (12 points) will look for its fifth straight win to open the Clausura season, when it visits Aguila (3 points) on Saturday. The Tigres boast the league’s best defensive record, conceding only two goals.

Also, on Saturday, unbeaten Isidro Metapan (10 points) hosts Atletico Marte, the team with the most combined regular-season points for the 2013-14 campaign.

Other matches:  UES-Dragon, Santa Tecla-Juventud Independiente, Alianza-Luis Ángel Firpo

    GUATEMALA

After a midweek matchday, all teams will be back in action this weekend for seventh-round play.  First-place Universidad de San Carlos (14 points) will travel to Mictlan (10 points) this Sunday. Universidad stayed unbeaten on Wednesday after a 1-1 draw with visiting Malacateco (4 points).

Saturday should be the debut of legendary striker Carlos Ruiz with Municipal (8 points), which plays away to Marquense (9 points).

Also, on Saturday, champion Comunicaciones hosts Heredia in a rematch of the 2013 Apertura final, which the Cremas captured on penalty kicks after the two-legged final ended 3-3 on aggregate.

    Other matches:  Malacateco-Iztapa, Coatepeque-Xelajú, Halcones-Suchitpequez

    COSTA RICA

The Verano remains very competitive after seven rounds as the top five teams are within four points of each other.  Alajuelense (15 points) now sits in first after an impressive 3-1 win over Belen Siglo XXI on Thursday.  Two goals from the in-form Jose Guillermo Ortiz provided the margin of victory.  The CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinalist will visit Cartagines (11 points) on Sunday.

Second-place Herediano (14 points) will look to keep pace with a visit to Perez Zeledon (5 points).

Other matches:  Deportivo Saprissa-Santos de Guápiles, UCR-Puntarenas, Limón-Belén Siglo XXI, Carmelita-Uruguay

    HONDURAS

At the top of the table, Real Sociedad (16 points) and Olimpia (15 points) will aim to separate themselves even further from the field this weekend.

With 17 goals (six more than any other team) in seven games, Real Sociedad is the league’s highest-scoring team.  Rony Martinez heads the scoring chart with eight tallies and will look for more, when the Realeza hosts Marathon (6 points) on Sunday.

Olimpia, the only unbeaten team in the league at 4-3-0, will meet visiting Victoria (9 points), also on Sunday.

Other matches:  Vida-Motagua, Deportes Savio-Platense, Real España-Parrillas Uno

    PANAMA

It promises to be a grand duel on Saturday, when first-place Alianza (10 points) hosts second-place Arabe Unido (9 points).  Arabe, a CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinalist, has scored only four goals in five matches and faces a side that has conceded only three times this season.

Other matches:  Sporting San Miguelito-Independiente, Tauro-Chepo, Plaza Amador-Rio Abajo, San Francisco-Chorrillo

    NICARAGUA

Four teams -- Walter Ferreti, Real Estelí, Managua and Juventus Managua -- are all remarkably tied for first place on 13 points each.  Managua is coming off a 5-2 win over Chinandega and will look to continue scoring on Sunday at Jalapa.

Other matches:  Real Esteli-Deportivo Ocotal, Real Madriz-San Marcos, Juventus Managua-Diriangen, Chinandega-Walter Ferretti
