    CBSC Updates: February 23, 2017 – Mexico stays perfect

    NASSAU, Bahamas – The fourth and final day of group play at the 2017 CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship will close with a slate of six matches. CONCACAF.com will be providing updates throughout the day and evening from the Malcolm Park Beach Soccer Facility.

    GROUP B: Canada 3, Guadeloupe 4
    Guadeloupe edged Canada, 4-3, to secure its place in the quarterfinals. With second place in Group B at stake, it was a “winner take all” scenario and Guadeloupe fought back twice from a deficit, eentually winning through courtesy of Theo Gelas’ late strike.

    Canada piled on the pressure in the final stages, but Guadeloupe did enough to hold back the tide.

    GROUP C: Antigua & Barbuda 6, US Virgin Islands 3
    Antigua & Barbuda earned its first Group C win, holding off a late fightback to beat the US Virgin Islands, 6-3. After back-to-back defeats for both, neither could advance for the next stage.

    The Antiguans jumped out to a 6-0 lead on the strength of Kevin Richards’ three goals, but the USVI responded with three unanswered goals during a six-minute, third-period stretch.

    GROUP B: Mexico 10, Barbados 0
    Angel David Rodriguez scored three goals and Mexico ended its perfect 3-0-0 Group B campaign with an impressive 10-0 win over Barbados.

    The sides were first and fourth, respectively. Despite the contrasting form of the two sides, Barbados proved more than a match for Mexico early on and it took until seven minutes in for Rodriguez to net his first.
