    USA, Mexico win in Puerto Vallarta beach soccer openers

    PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico – CONCACAF sides Mexico and the United States opened 2017 Visit Puerto Vallarta Cup play Friday with wins at the Estadio Municipal Agustin Flores Contreras.

    USA 6, France 5

    Nicolas Perera scored three goals and the United States earned a narrow 6-5 win over France in the opening match of the 2017 Visit Puerto Vallarta Cup.  Each of Perera’s goals either gave the U.S. a lead or extended its advantage.  A pair of Lucas Roque strikes in the third period provided the Americans all the insurance they needed to secure maximum points.
