DAEJON, Korea Republic – Mexico (1W-1D-0L, 4 points) secured what could prove to be a valuable point after playing Germany (0-1-1, 1) to a 0-0 draw in the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup on Tuesday at Daejon World Cup Stadium.

The Tricolor now hold sole possession of second place in Group A on four points, leading the third-place Germany by three points and trailing first-place Venezuela – a 7-0 winner over Vanuatu – by two.

While Mexico struggled to generate a sustained offense, its goalkeeper -- Abraham Romero – was the star. The 19-year-old Pachuca product made seven saves, including a point-blank block on a Philipp Ochs effort at the right post late in the encounter.

Mexico produced a limited number of chances, but Edson Alvarez’s snapping header in the first-half forced goalkeeper into an acrobatic leap to parry the effort over the crossbar.

Next up for Mexico: Friday, May 26 v Venezuela
