    U20WC: Cisneros goal lifts Mexico past Senegal, into quarterfinals

    INCHEON, Korea Republic – Eight minutes after entering as a late substitute, Ronaldo Cisneros scored and Mexico earned a 1-0 win over 10-man Senegal in a FIFA U-20 World Cup Round of 16 match on Thursday at Incheon Stadium.

    The Mexicans will next meet England – a 2-1 winner over Costa Rica on Wednesday -- in the quarterfinals on June 5.

    With Senegal reduced a player after Alioune Gueye’s ejection in the 71st minute, Mexico was able to capitalize with a minute remaining in normal time.

    From the left goal line, Diego Aguilar – another substitute – sent a low cross in front of the Senegal net, where Cisneros was located to fire in with his right foot from two-yards out.

    Cisneros was the 2017 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship’s top scorer with six goals.

    Next up for Mexico: Monday, June 5 v England (Quarterfinals)
