    U.S. star Johnson breaks hand in Bundesliga game

     SINSHEIM, Germany – United States international Fabian Johnson will be out of action for an unspecified amount of time after breaking his right hand during Hoffenheim’s 4-0 loss to host Nürnberg on Saturday.

    The defender/midfielder sustained the injury in the first half of the German Bundesliga encounter and did not return following the interval.

    With his versatility, Johnson played a key role during the Americans’ successful qualifying campaign for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, appearing in nine matches.

    The 26-year-old was not slated to play in the USA’s February 1 friendly against Korea Republic, but it was anticipated that he would part be of the squad for the pre-World Cup match at Ukraine on March 5.
