    U.S. int’l GK Guzan joins Middlesbrough

    MIDDLESBROUGH, England – Newly-promoted English Premier League side Middlesbrough announced Friday that it has acquired United States international Brad Guzan on a free transfer from Aston Villa.

    The 31-year-old goalkeeper, who signed a two-year contract, made 171 appearances in all competitions for Villans after joining from Chivas USA in 2008. He was loaned to Hull City for part of the 2010/11 campaign.

    Guzan has earned 50 caps for the U.S., winning the Golden Glove award at the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Most recently, he helped the Americans reach the semifinals of June’s Copa America Centenario.
