    Tigres, Guadalajara set to duel in Liga MX final opener

    MONTERREY, Mexico – The 2017 Liga MX Clausura final kicks off Thursday as defending champion Tigres hosts Guadalajara at the Estadio Universitario in Monterrey. The two teams will then meet again Sunday at the Estadio Chivas in Zapopan for the second leg.

    - Tigres rolls into the final on the strength of triumphing in the quarterfinals over rival Monterrey (agg: 6-1) and top-seeded Club Tijuana in the semifinals (agg: 4-0)
    - Guadalajara progressed to the final by virtue of having a better regular after both its quarterfinal and semifinal series against Atlas (agg: 1-1) and Toluca (agg: 2-2), respectively.


    - In their lone meeting this season, Tigres topped visiting Chivas, 3-0, on April 11, 2017. Forward Andre-Pierre Gignac notched a brace, while midfielder Jesus Dueñas added a goal.
    - In four all-time meetings between Tigres head coach Ricardo Ferretti and Guadalajara manager Matias Almeyda, there have been two draws (2-2, 2015 Apertura; 2-2, 2016 Clausura) and two victories for Tigres (1-0, 2016 Apertura; 3-0, 2017 Clausura).


    - Guadalajara is seeking its 12th Liga MX title and its first since the 2006 Apertura.
    - Tigres is aiming for a sixth Liga MX crown and will be looking to become the first back-to-back champion in Mexico since Leon (2013 Apertura; 2014 Clausura).
