    SCL Finalists: Domestic League Preview (Oct. 13, 2017)

    MIAMI – This is weekend marks the last domestic league matches before Olimpia and visiting Santos de Guapiles open their 2017 Scotiabank CONCACAF League final on Thursday at the Estadio Olimpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

    OLIMPIA (Honduras)

    Next 2017 Honduran Apertura match: Friday, October 13, away v Vida

    Next 2017 SCL match (Final, First Leg): Thursday, October 19, home v Santos de Guapiles

    Second-place Olimpia (5W-3D-2L, 18) can jump over Marathon into first place in the 2017 Honduran Apertura with a win on Friday night against seventh-place host Vida (2-5-3, 11).  The Leones, who have scored two or more goals in five consecutive games, ended their five-match road winless streak with a 2-1 win against Platense last Saturday.

    SANTOS DE GUAPILES (Costa Rica)

    Next 2017 Costa Rican Invierno match: Saturday, October 15, away v Guadalupe

    Next 2017 SCL match (Final, First Leg): Thursday, October 19, away v Olimpia

    Sixth-place Santos de Guapiles (5-4-4, 19) halted a two-game losing streak Wednesday thanks a 2-1 win over visiting Alajuelense (5-6-2, 21).  It can continue pursuit of a post-season berth with another victory Sunday at last-place Guadalupe (1-3-9, 6).  Santos has conceded at least one goal in nine of its last 10 games in the 2017 Invierno.  When the sides met on August 30, Guadalupe secured its only victory of the season, 2-0, on a pair of goals by Aldo Magaña.
