PANAMA CITY, Panama – Jamaica head coach Winfried Schafer intends to share the knowledge acquired at the National Coaches and Technical Directors symposium in Panama with coaches in Jamaica.
Schafer was one of 180 delegates -- coaches and technical directors from 45 CONCACAF and CONMEBOL nations – to gather in Panama for a review the 2014 FIFA World Cup, share best practices and develop plans that will propel football development in the region.
“The analysts of World Cup was very good, Schafer told CONCACAF.com. “From this, we will have a meeting in Jamaica with Vin Blaine, Jamaica’s Technical Director, and Theodore Whitmore from the FIFA Technical Study Group, with all our coaches and we will share to ensure we are successful in our future. “
Schafer was a guest in the CONCACAF panel whose teams did not qualify for Brazil.
The panel reviewed the CONCACAF Hexagonal qualifying campaign and player development strategies, all in an effort to create next steps that will assist in football’s holistic development.
“My hope is that everyone in the CONCACAF region learns from the information that has been shared over the last three days and go on to produce good football,” Schafer expressed.
Along with the panel discussions, the 14-member FIFA Technical Study Group (TSG), which published the FIFA World Cup Technical Report, reviewed technological innovations implemented at the 2014 FIFA World Cup - specifically Goal Line Technology and the vanishing spray – as well as refereeing and medical matters, including anti-doping, concussion and cooling breaks.
