CHICAGO -- The United States under-20 women’s national team will hold a training camp November 24-December 1 at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

In Wednesday’s announcement, 16 players were named to the roster by U.S. head coach Michelle French, but more are expected to be added.

Those still involved with their respective college teams during the NCAA tournament were not considered for the camp, opening up slots for new players to get looks before qualifying for next year’s World Cup begins.  Two high school players -- goalkeeper Darien Dunham and midfielder Andi Sullivan – were also called up.

“Our upcoming camp is an incredible opportunity to evaluate players who have excelled during their recent college season, including several players that have never been involved with our youth national team programs,” said French.  “Due to the November camp running concurrently with the NCAA tournament, we were able to cast a wider net, which will ultimately help us in selecting the best group of players to represent the U.S. in the upcoming U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifying tournament.”

The gathering is a bridge to the mid-December camp in Florida, which will be the team’s final preparation prior to the CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championship in the Cayman Islands, January 9-19, 2014.

The USA is in Group A with Costa Rica, Jamaica and Guatemala, while Group B consists of the host Cayman Islands, Honduras, Trinidad & Tobago and Mexico.
