    Roca names first El Salvador training camp squad

    SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador – Albert Roca named a list of 32 players on Wednesday for his first camp since being officially presented as El Salvador’s head coach on May 12.

    The Cuscatlecos are preparing for a pair of friendlies against Ivory Coast (June 4, in Frisco, Texas, USA) and Spain (June 7, in Landover, Maryland, USA).  Those games are expected to play a role in formulating a roster for September’s Copa Centroamericana -- the Central American championship for national teams that doubles as qualifying tournament for the CONCACAF Gold Cup. 

    It is expected that Roca will ultimately bring a roster of 20 players to the United States next month.

    All available squad members will report to the Salvadoran Football Federation’s sports complex on Thursday to open training.

    Goalkeeper Derby Carrillo and midfielder Darwin Ceren, both based in the U.S., will link-up with the team on May 26, the same day as players from Salvadoran Clausura finalists Dragon and Isidro Metapan will be integrated.

    Arturo Alvarez, Richard Menjivar and Rafael Burgos will join the group on June 2 in the United States.
