GUADALAJARA, Mexico – With Guadalajara’s preseason training camp in Cancun underway, count striker Alan Pulido as one who is eager to get back to work.

A right-leg injury limited the Mexico international to only four games in the 2017 Liga MX Apertura.

“The truth is that I’m happy and motivated because the preseason is starting and I have very high hopes,” said Pulido, who has nine goals in 29 career matches for Chivas.

In addition to its 2018 Liga MX Clausura, Guadalajara will return to the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League for the first time since 2012/13, facing the Dominican Republic’s Cibao FC in the Round of 16.

For that reason, head coach Matias Almeyda has been busy bringing in reinforcements. Among the new arrivals are 20-year-old forward Ronaldo Cisneros, the 2017 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship Golden Boot winner (6 goals), and former Santos midfielder Gael Sandoval.

“The truth is that they are going to do well for the team,” Pulido commented on the personnel additions. “We hope that they can help with their good football. They are great players.”

The 22-year-old Sandoval, in particular, is expected to have an immediate impact at the Estadio Akron.

“I got to spend time obviously with Gael in the national team. He is a player who has great qualities,” concluded Pulido. “Like I said, they come in with the same objective, which is to show that Chivas is great.”

Guadalajara missed out on the Apertura playoffs after capturing the 2017 Liga MX Clausura title.
