    Puerto Rico wins U-20 quadrangular

    The host Puerto Rico won the International Under-20 Quadrangular Tournament "Festival Olímpico de Fútbol" after defeating Dominican Republic 3:2 in the Final at the Estadio del Complejo Deportivo Roberto Clemente in the city of Carolina on 25 July.

    The boricuas also claimed all the individual awards at "Festival Olímpico de Fútbol": Most Valuable Player - Chris Garcia; Top Scorer - Roger Espinoza; Best Goalkeeper - Roland Mott.

    In the third-place match of the tournament on 25 July, the US Virgin Islands U-20 team posted a 6:2 victory over Puerto Rico's U-15 squad.

    The Dominican Republic began the Festival Olímpico de Fútbol on 22 July in Carolina with a 2:0 win over Puerto Rico's U-15 squad, who replaced St. Vincent & The Grenadines' U-20 team, while the boricuas topped the US Virgin Islands 8:1.

    The next day (23 July), Puerto Rico defeated the U-15 team 3:1, while the Dominican Republic topped the US Virgin Islands by the same score (3:1).

    The group play ended on 24 July at the Estadio del Complejo Deportivo Roberto Clemente with US Virgin Islands playing Puerto Rico's U-15 squad to a 2:2 tie, while the boricuas posted a 5:1 victory over the dominicanos.

    The under-20 teams of Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands are in preparations for the football competition at the Central American & Caribbean Games that will take place in Cartagena, Colombia next year.
