Playoff match for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 to be played between USA and Mexico on Oct. 10 at the Rose Bowl

Tickets will go on sale to the general public in September

MIAMI (July 26, 2015) – The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) announced today that the playoff match for a berth in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, which will determine the nation that will represent the region in the prestigious tournament, will be played between the United States and Mexico on Saturday, October 10, at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA.

By winning the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup on Sunday, Mexico qualified for the match against the 2013 Gold Cup champions, the United States.

In April of 2013, CONCACAF announced the split of the region’s berth to the Confederations Cup between two editions of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, assuring that both editions of the Gold Cup in each 4-year cycle have the same importance from a competitive perspective.

Participating member associations and its supporter groups will have access to purchase tickets in advance of the public sale. Tickets will be available to the general public in September.

The Oct. 10 playoff game will be played during a FIFA international match window.

Taking place every two years, the CONCACAF Gold Cup is the official national team championship of the region, routinely drawing capacity crowds and millions of television viewers across the region.
