SAN JOSE, Costa Rica –Panama (2W-0D-0L, 6 points) scored three goals in the second half to earn a 4-0 win over St. Kitts & Nevis in the 2017 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship on Tuesday at the Estadio Nacional.

With the result, the Panamanians moved provisionally atop the Group B table, three points ahead of Haiti (1-0-0, 3), which will face the United States (0-0-1, 0) later in the afternoon.  A victory by the Caribbean champion will see it and Panama secure berths in the next round.

Against St. Kitts & Nevis, Ricardo Avila scored the last two goals.  He converted a penalty kick in the 57th minute and struck from 22-yards out eight minutes later off a fine pass by Andres Peñalba from the right-end line.

Andres Andrade gave Panama a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute, when – off a neat give-and-go with Isidoro Hinestroza – his left-footed shot went off the hands of goalkeeper Akimbah Francis and into the net.

Three minutes after the break, Leandro Avila made it 2-0, latching on to a Ricardo Avila through ball down the left and rounding Francis in the box, before rolling the ball into the back of the net for his second goal of the tournament.

St. Kitts & Nevis finished the match with 10 players following Xavier French’s 90th-minute ejection.
