    Panama names roster for trip to Europe

    PANAMA CITY, Panama – Head coach Hernan Dario Gomez has called up 24 players for Panama’s international friendlies next month against Iran (November 9; Graz, Austria) and Wales (November 14; Cardiff, Wales). 

    The Canaleros will be using the matches as preparation for their first-ever FIFA World Cup appearance next year in Russia. 

    From the 14 players that appeared for Panama in a 2-1 victory over visiting Costa Rica on October 10, 2017 – the last CONCACAF Hexagonal match for each, which booked the host’s ticket to Russia – 12 were tabbed for the trip to Europe. 

    Defender Roman Torres, who scored the game-winning goal against the Ticos, highlights the side.

    Four other players who struck for exactly two goals each during the qualifying campaign will all make the trip: forwards Abdiel Arroyo, Blas Perez, Luis Tejada and Gabriel Torres.
