    Nicaragua’s Aguilas de Leon, UNAN win in Central American women’s club openers

    MANAGUA, Nicaragua – The 2017 Central American Women’s Inter-Club Championship – the second-ever edition -- kicked off Monday with a doubleheader at the Estadio Nacional.

    Defending champion Moravia (Costa Rica) and UNAN Managua (Nicaragua) are the only two sides to return from last year’s inaugural competition.

    - Sheyla Flores struck for a hat-trick on Aguilas de Leon’s 9-0 victory over Orchids FC in the second game of an opening day doubleheader.- Jansy Aguirre and Ninoska Solis added two goals each in a winning effort.

    - Aguilas de Leon set tournament records for most goals scored in a single match and the largest margin of victory in a match. Costa Rica’s Saprissa set both initial records in 5-0 win over Universidad of Honduras on May 26, 2016.
