    Moravia, UNAN win in Central American Women’s Inter-Club Championship semifinals

    MANAGUA, Nicaragua – Defending champion Moravia (Costa Rica) and UNAN Managua (Nicaragua) survived arduous challenges on Friday to earn places in the 2017 Central American Women’s Inter-Club Championship final.

    The semifinal winners will meet in Saturday’s decider at the Estadio Nacional, which has been the venue for the entire competition.

    - In a back-and-forth affair, UNAN saw leads of 1-0 and 2-1 slip away, only to advance to the final, 4-3 on penalty kicks.

    - Krystal Oretga struck deep into second-half stoppage time to level at 2-2 for UPNFM.

    - UPNFM’s Maria Banegas equalized at 1-1 in the 45th minute.

    - UNAN’s Hormy Paiz struck for her first goal of the competition in the first half, while Wendy Flores converted from the penalty spot for the second time in three games in the second half.

    Karla Villalobos 80’+3

    - Defending champion Moravia clinched a return to the final as Karla Villalobos’ goal in second-half stoppage time gave it a 1-0 win over Aguilas de Leon.

    - The goal was Villalobos’ team-best fourth of the competition and the first that Aguilas de Leon had conceded in three tournament outings.

    - Aguilas de Leon’s Oisis Arias (80’+4) was issued a straight red card shortly after Villalobos scored.
