    Montreal to host FIFA U-20 WWC Draw on Saturday

    OTTAWA -- Eva Avila - a Canadian Idol winner - will perform live at the Official Draw for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014.  The Canadian artist will perform her single “Bitter Meets Sweet” as part of the draw ceremony to be held Saturday in Montreal.

    Also on Saturday, Montreal’s Effusion will sing the national anthem before the Official Draw.  The group will perform again during the evening’s banquet, at which FIFA Vice President and CONCACAF President Jeffrey Webb will also speak.

    During the banquet, guests will be treated to a dinner featuring elements from the four FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 host provinces: Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick. 

    The Official Draw for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 will equally divide the 16 qualified teams into four groups for the opening round of the competition, which will be held August 5-24.

    Tatjana Haenni, FIFA’s Deputy Director of the Competitions Division and Head of Women’s Competitions, will perform the draw, while Olympic medalist Jacinthe Taillon will serve as the evening’s emcee.

    Presenting at the Official Draw will be FIFA executive committee member Lydia Nsekera, National Organising Committee Chairman and Canadian Soccer Association President Victor Montagliani, and The Honourable Tim Uppal, Minister of State for Multiculturalism, representing the Government of Canada.

    CONCACAF will be represented in the competition by host Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico and the confederation champion United States.
