MEXICO CITY – The Mexico under-20 women’s national team gathered Thursday at the Mexican Football Federation’s High Performance Center to begin final preparations for next month’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Head coach Christopher Cuellar has called in 24 players, seeking to name a final roster of 21 by July 21.
His training plan features 28 morning and evening workouts and four friendlies -- two against Canada and a pair against the United States under-18 national team.
The CONCACAF runner-up will travel to Canada, the World Cup’s host nation, on August 1. It will face Nigeria (August 6), England (August 9) and Korea Republic (August 13) in Group C play.
