TURKU, Finland -- Martinique international Julien Faubert signed Tuesday a one-year contract with Finnish top-flight side Inter Turku.

After playing with clubs such as Real Madrid (2009), West Ham (2007-12) and Bordeaux (2004-07) over the course of a 16-year career, the versatile 33-year-old is delighted to open a new chapter in a seventh European country.

“I think I made the right decision to come here,” said Faubert. “I can see from just being around the facility that it is a club which has an ambition to win things. The club has a winning mentality, so that is why I came here and I am happy to be here.”

Faubert made his debut for Martinique in the 2014 Caribbean Cup and has gone on to score five goals in 10 games. He has extra motivation to do well with Inter Turku, especially since Les Matinino has earned a berth in the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

“I want to win things here in Finland,” Faubert finished. “I am focused on winning trophies. I believe having this mind set can follow through as well for country as well as we (Martinique) prepare for a big tournament in the summer. For now though, I am pleased to be with FC Inter and I will do my best for this club.”

Before joining Inter Turku, Faubert played for Scotland’s Kilmarnock in 2016.
