CARSON, California -- The LA Galaxy announced Thursday that it has transferred midfielder Juninho to Liga MX’s Club Tijuana.

The 26-year-old Brazilian joined the Galaxy in 2010 and made 187 Major League Soccer regular-season appearances, scoring 18 goals.

“We thank Juninho for his contributions on and off the field during his time here,” said LA Galaxy head coach and general manager Bruce Arena. “We wish him the best of luck with Tijuana.”

Juninho, who has four career Scotibank CONCACAF Champions League goals, originally joined the Galaxy on loan from Brazil’s Sao Paulo in 2010 and signed with the club permanently ahead of the 2013 season. He was a member of three MLS Cup championship squads (2011, 2012, 2014).

The transaction was the Galaxy’s second with a Mexican club this week. On Tuesday, it sold United States international defender Omar Gonzalez to Pachuca.

LA earned a place in the 2015-16 SCCL quarterfinals, where it will meet Santos in a two-game series starting on February 24.
