GDANSK, Poland – Raul Jimenez scored the only goal and Mexico completed its 2017 schedule with a 1-0 win over host Poland on Monday at Arena Gdansk.

The Tricolor finished at 15W-5D-5L, a record that was highlighted by earning a spot in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

With both sides missing multiple starters, the visitor struck in the 13th minute.

While bursting towards the penalty area, Javier Aquino had the ball kicked in the opposite direction by Poland defender Thiago Cionek.  It ricocheted off teammate Karol Linetty and then hit Aquino – who was on the ground in the box -- falling to Jimenez to finish emphatically with his left foot from 11-yards out.

The goal was Jimenez’s 13th in a Mexico jersey.

Poland nearly leveled in the 57th minute, only for Mexico goalkeeper Jesus Corona to stick out a foot to deny Maciej Rybus’ effort at the left post.

In nine games against European opposition this year, Mexico posted a 4W-2D-3L mark.
