Jamaica victory sets up winner take all clash with Caymans Sunday

Jamaica scored five goals after the interval to defeat Puerto Rico 6:0 Friday, setting up a winner take all match with hosts Cayman Islands to determine the winner of Group B in Caribbean Zone FC Under-20 Qualifying Tournament.

Ramon Negron opened the scoring for Puerto Rico in the 34th minute before the young Reggae Boyz ran off six unanswered goals, beginning with a 38th minute strike from Craig Gordon.

After the sides went to the interval deadlocked, Lenworth Hyde gave Jamaica their first lead of the afternoon in the 48th minute, opening the floodgates.

Gordon bumped the advantage to two, finding a hole in the Puerto Rico defence for the second time just four minutes after Hyde, with Sheldon Palmer tallying in the 53rd minute to ensure the victory.

Richard West and Sean Fraser added insurance goals in the final 20 minutes for Jamaica, who will face the hosts Sunday, themselves 1:0 winners over Puerto Rico on Wednesday 28 August.

The winner of Group B will draw Haiti for a home-and-home series later this fall, with the winner advancing to Group B of the FC Final Qualifying Tournament in the USA.
