    Hernandez, Guardado highlight Mexico roster for friendlies

    MEXICO CITY – With an eye on three upcoming competitions, Mexico head coach Juan Carlos Osorio has called up 32 players ahead of international friendlies in the United States against Croatia (May 27; Los Angeles, California) and Ireland (June 1; East Rutherford, New Jersey). 

    The squad features a pair of past CONCACAF Gold Cup Golden Ball winners: forward Javier Hernandez (2011) and midfielder Andres Guardado (2015).

    Four players key to Pachuca’s run to the 2016/17 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League title – defender Raul Lopez, midfielders Erick Gutierrez and Jorge Hernandez, and forward Hirving Lozano -- also merited selection 

    Mexico is preparing for World Cup qualifiers against Honduras (June 8, home) and the USA (June 11, home), the FIFA Confederations Cup (June 17-July2) and the CONCACAF Gold Cup (July 7-26).
