    Haiti & Dominican Republic open Women's Copa de las Antillas with victories

    The women's under-20 teams of Haiti and the host Dominican Republic opened the inaugural Copa de las Antillas with victories at the Estadio Félix Sánchez in Santo Domingo on Friday.

    Goals by Nacilla Espera and Roselense Joseph in the fourth and 24th minutes, respectively, led the Haitians to a 2:0 win over Dominican Republic's Under-17 team.

    In an earlier encounter on Friday, a goal from Leonela Mojica in the 69th minute of the second half gave the quisqueyanas a 1:0 victory over the boricuas.

    The 2005 Women's Copa de las Antillas continues on Saturday, (20 August) as Puerto Rico plays against Haiti at 14:00 at the Estadio Parque del Este and then the two Dominican Republic Women's Youth teams (U-20 & U-17) face off at 16:00.

    The event concludes on Sunday (21 August) at the Estadio Parque del Este, with the boricuas against Dominican Republic's U-17 team at 14:00 and then the Haitians meet the quisqueyanas at 16:00.
