GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala – Jonatan Arevalo scored three goals as Guatemala posted an 8-4 win over Panama in the final of the Central American futsal qualifying tournament on Sunday at the Domo Polideportivo.

The 22-year-old netted the first goal in each half and the last goal of the game, while Abdiel Castellon paced the Panamanians with a brace.

The Chapines took a 2-1 lead into the break and withstood an onslaught that saw the visitor strike three times during a three-minute stretch in the second half to make the score 6-4.

Guatemala and Panama also earned places in this year’s CONCACAF Futsal Championship, which will qualify four teams to the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Colombia.

In the match for third place, Honduras broke a 2-2 halftime deadlock, striking for three unanswered goals to defeat El Salvador, 5-2. Five different players scored for the Catrachos, including Marco Triminio, who finished the tournament with a team-high four goals.
