GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala – With the 2014 Central American Cup looming on the horizon, Guatemala completed Thursday its fourth week of preparation under the direction of new head coach Ivan Franco Sopegno.

The former Comunicaciones manager worked with a group of 24 players, none of whom played for 2014/15 CONCACAF Champions League qualifiers Comunicaciones and Municipal.  Defender Osiel Rivera missed the camp due to an injury.

On Monday, the squad will return to training and Sopengo noted that players from the Guatemala City-based giants will be included.

"We continue to look at players,” said Sopegno.  “For the next week, I will have another group.”

Players such as Wilber Perez (Petapa), Jonny Brown (Marquense) and Jonathan Lopez (Antigua) hope to receive another invitation after participating in training the last four weeks.

"Thank God we had the opportunity to spend a few days with the national team,” said Brown.  “Coach told us that in the next few weeks some players might receive another call.”

Guatemala has scheduled double sessions at the Project Goal Project facilities and will close the last day of activities with intrasquad game.

The Central American Cup will be held in the United States from September 3-13.  Guatemala will play Group A along with Honduras, El Salvador and Belize.
