    Futsal: Group A Recap (Aug. 22, 2017)

    TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras – Elite Futsal netted the most goals in a single 2017 CONCACAF Futsal Club Championship match, earning a 12-1 win over FAX Futsal on Tuesday in the second Group A match for each at the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional Francisco Morazan.

    Here’s a look at this today’s Group A action:

    FAX Futsal (Guadeloupe) 1, Elite Futsal (USA) 12

    Seven different players scored for Elite Futsal (2W-0D-0L, 6 points) as it exploded for 10 second-half goals in a 12-1 win over FAX Futsal (0-0-2, 0).  Junior Alencar (17’, 22’, 40’) led the way with a hat-trick, while Thiago Mendes (6’, 39’), Leonardo Oliveira (23’, 24’) and Pablo Daniel Da Silva (29’, 34’) struck for two goals each.

    Nicolas Roth netted FAX Futsal’s only goal in the 36th minute to make the score 9-1.

    UPNFM (Honduras) 2, Soyapango FC (El Salvador) 6

    Soyapango FC (1-0-1, 3) scored the last four goals to defeat UPNFM (1-0-1, 3). 6-2.  It was a back-and-forth battle until David Sandoval snapped a 2-2 draw in the 14th minute, igniting a spectacular run to close out the match.

    Sandoval (29’) also scored the first goal of the second half, while Josue Garcia (33’, 35’) followed with two strikes to close out the match, giving him a hat-trick.

    Bryan Israel Recarte (1’) and Marco Antonio Timinio (13’) struck for UPNFM.

    Next Up in Group A on Wednesday (all times local): Soyapango FC takes on FAX Futsal (3:00 p.m.), while UPNFM will look to rebound against Elite Futsal (8:00 p.m.).
