FC Dallas acquires, signs CONCACAF internationals

DALLAS, Texas – Canada national team midfielder Kyle Bekker and St. Kitts & Nevis international midfielder/forward Atiba Harris are officially members of FC Dallas.

Bekker was acquired by Dallas from Toronto FC in exchange for allocation money on Wednesday.

In two seasons with Toronto, the 24-year-old appeared in 29 Major League Soccer matches.  Bekker made his international debut in a 4-0 loss to Denmark on January 26, 2013, and has earned 13 caps, including two at the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup.  He also played in four games at the 2012 CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying tournament.

Harris, 29, who was selected in the Major League Soccer re-entry draft last month, agreed to terms with the club.  As per team and league policy, terms of the deals was not disclosed.

The 6-foot-3, 185-lb. Harris also has played for Real Salt Lake -- where he became the first player from St. Kitts to sign with an MLS side in 2006 -- Chivas USA, Vancouver Whitecaps, Colorado Rapids and, most recently, the San Jose Earthquakes.

He recorded four goals in 24 games for San Jose during 2014 the season.

In his first stint with FC Dallas from 2009-2010, Harris scored six goals in 41 appearances. He started in the 2010 MLS Cup final, a 2-1 loss to Colorado.

A native of Saint Peter’s, St. Kitts, Harris enjoyed his most productive MLS season for the Rapids in 2013, scoring five goals in 29 games.

During a nine-year MLS career, he has scored 26 goals in 191 regular-season outings.

Harris has netted 12 goals in 33 matches for St. Kitts after making his international debut at as a 15-year-old in 2003.
