    El Salvador tops Nicaragua in friendly

    ESTELI, Nicaragua – El Salvador snapped a four-game losing streak with a 2-0 win over host Nicaragua on Tuesday at the Estadio Independencia. 

    The Salvadorans completed their 2014 schedule with a 4-0-7 record, which included a fourth-place finish in the Central American Cup and qualification to the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

    Shortly after Eulises Pavon had a goal disallowed for offside, Efrain Burgos gave the visitor a 1-0 lead in the 44th minute off a pass from Arturo Alvarez. 

    Nelson Bonilla doubled the advantage from inside the penalty box with 10 minutes remaining in normal time, marking the third time that the Cuscatlecos scored more than one goal in a match this year. 

    Nicaragua, which played for the first time under interim head coach Javier Londoño, lost for the seventh time in as many games.
